17-236 Fluted Dalton Point

17-236 "Fluted" Dalton Point made from heat treated Alibates agatized dolomite. A very few Dalton points were, what you would say, "fluted." This was mostly due to overzealous basal thinning, in this case both percussion and pressure. Daltons were not coeval with Clovis, but came a few hundred years after the last Clovis points were made in the Northeast. Dalton points, on the average, were thinner with more refined pressure finish on the blades, the basal concavities were deeper and the ears more delicate. With beautiful color and "flutes" half way up both faces this is an outstanding example of this style! Length, 2 13/16 inches. Price, $30.
