20-412 INTRUSIVE MOUND POINT made from heat treated Burlington chert. The name “Intrusive Mound” was coined for the Late Woodland culture that had a curious practice of burying their dead in old Adena and Hopewell mounds. There points had distinctive styles and came in two sizes, large for atl-atl dart points and knife blades, and small for arrow points. Apparently, both weapon systems were in use during this period. This is one of the dart points and was made from material that is out of the region where most of these points were found, but it is a nice piece anyway, and at a reasonable price. Length, 2 15/16 inches. Price, $12.
