19 D-675 SMALL TYPE IV-E DAGGER

$185.00

19 D-675 SMALL TYPE IV-E DAGGER made from heat treated Sunset jasper from Richardson's Rock Ranch, Oregon. This dagger was made from the last, thick sawed slab from that material I collected over 25 years ago. Even after heat treating the two colors were almost a lithic grade appart in hardness which gave me fits. Of course the handle had to be placed in the toughest lighter material! Even with the difficulties the stitching is "two stage fine", that is the first pass to form a "median crest" was done by indirect percussion with a punch, then a second pass was done with pressure. This refined the seam with small, and very uniform flakes. The stitching around the pommel and down the sides of the handle is also good and even. This style is authentic for old Type IV daggers, and I'm one of perhaps three dagger makers in the world that know how to do it the old fashioned way! Also, the pressure finish on the blade isn't bad either. Technically, this is a very good dagger in an iconic American material and well worth the price!  Size, 6 5/16 inches. Price, $185. Sorry, this one is SOLD!
