25-259 OHIO BIRD POINT Made from heat treated Ohio Flint Ridge chert. These tiny points have been found on some Late Archaic sites in Ohio. Two were found in a Glacial Kame burial at the Duff site in Logan County and a number of them were found at the Sabre Farm site in Ross County dated 1900 BC! They have also been found elsewhere in the state. There has been an argument over whether the bow & arrow may have seen use there that far back? My take on it is they were mini atl-atl lance points. Cheaply made throwaways! Many were made from heat treated high color Ridge chert like mine, only mine are better made. Not wanting to waste any of it, this one was made from a suitable flake of that stuff I got in a trade a while back. Size, 1 3/16 inches. Price, $5.
